One of our students, Iva Sponarova, who is currently in her flight training phase, has said: “The instructors at the flight school of BAA Training are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I can promise you that they can teach anyone to fly!“
We’re glad to be receiving such positive feedback and are doing our best to ensure our students get the best quality training. Today we’ve decided to reveal what’s going on “behind the scenes.“ We have spoken to Ab Initio People Business Partner at BAA Training Simona Miniote, who is actually responsible for finding and recruiting instructors with the right personal qualities and expertise.
What is your background, and what brought you to the aviation field?
After I graduated from university in International business and communication, I went for an internship in the Czech Republic that introduced me to the field of Human recourses and recruitment. Then, I came back to Lithuania and started working in an airline which was my start in aviation. I have spent almost five years there, full of adventures, action, changes, and challenges. It seems this fast-paced industry got into me, and it became impossible to stay away from it. I tried logistics for some time, but my heart brought me back to the right place – back to aviation. This time, it was my new beginning at BAA Training.
You help with the recruitment process for Spain, including engineers, flight instructors, administrative staff, etc. What are the main criteria candidates have to match to land a job?
As aviation is a highly regulated environment, there are many specific qualification requirements for various positions. Besides, adapting to changes and having a spark in the eyes are valuable traits. There are usually two options: either one falls in love with aviation for life or decides that is not their path to follow.
What’s the best thing about your job?
It’s never boring as things are changing quite rapidly. There are new projects, new places and new people. It is incredible to share experiences and stories about aviation with people with different backgrounds and origins, all united by the love for aviation.
Besides aviation, what are some other interests and hobbies?
I am a fan of extreme sports – kitesurfing and snowboarding are among my outside work activities. When I need my mind to reset, I do some artsy things – painting, drawing and recently added ceramics to the list. Let’s not forget my super active dog named Happy, which makes sure I never stay in one place for too long.😊
