Having a meaningful and fulfilling job is not a fantasy. Ruta Stankeviciute, Training Project Manager and Team Leader of TRTO Department at BAA Training, is one of those who knows for sure it’s true. She’s been in different roles within the aviation industry, made a great career leap, broadened her cultural outlook, and more. The only constant has been a love for aviation which she has never betrayed.
You have „tasted“ aviation from different perspectives. What has this journey taught you, and what kept you loyal to the industry?
I started my journey in aviation as a flight attendant. Being a flight crew is quite demanding yet romantic at the same time, especially for those who love to travel. Despite the beauty of this job, it is difficult to maintain a healthy life pattern when you fly around daily, but the aviation industry gets under my skin, so there was no way for me to separate from it for good.
Currently, I manage the team that organizes aviation personnel training. We work with commercial pilots and cabin crew. Our daily routine has a very dynamic and fast pace. Therefore every day is unique and never boring for sure. I love working with clients from all around the world – it gives a strong connection with different cultures, experiences, and of course, knowledge and development within the professional career.
What is a typical day at work like today?
Busy. 😊 Coffee helps. But I like it – time flies fast.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Undoubtedly – our TEAM! BAA Training Project Managers are very sharp, reactive, and have excellent multitasking skills. Due to the nature of work, there are a lot of burning deadlines, logistical solutions and financial matters that have to be covered. At times it is challenging, but it only unites us as a team and pushes us to do „the impossible.“ Apart from the professionalism, my team is beautiful people who support each other with kindness and positive vibes in all aspects.
What are some recent projects you have been working on?
I cooperate closely with the BAA Training training centre in Barcelona. It includes onboarding the training staff, regulations assurance and improvement of internal processes. Pilot training is in extremely high demand because of an attractive location in the European Union and popular full flight simulators like B737 MAX and A320 installed. We work together with our Spanish team to ensure that all operations are smooth, efficient and well-organized.
Have you ever thought of becoming a pilot?
I have already tried flying – building my future on the ground. 😊
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
The thing that makes me happy the most is traveling. My goal for 2022 is to visit at least six countries. Recently, I had my first solo trip, and I did not expect it to be that exciting! Great emotions, stunning nature, lots of cultural experiences and delicious food. I am thinking of a plan to visit a part of Asia shortly. Ideally, I would like to go there for a month, but my boss does not know about it yet. Well, most likely, he is reading this post now… So, can I please? :))
